Consolacion set to roll out mobile vaccination in mountain villages

THE Municipality of Consolacion is set to start its mobile vaccination in mountain barangays against Covid-19 next week.

The mobile vaccination was supposed to begin last week, but it was postponed after one member of the team was infected with Covid-19, putting the entire team into quarantine, said Mayor Joannes Alegado on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021.

The mayor initiated the mobile vaccination in mountain barangays to accommodate residents who do not have enough money to go to the vaccination sites.

Alegado said that aside from mobile vaccination, the municipality will also start house-to-house vaccination for bed-ridden residents soon.

Alegado said mountain barangays were clustered in which residents from three to five barangays can get vaccinated in one designated vaccination site.

Barangay Garing is a pilot barangay for mobile vaccination in which eligible residents from three to four barangays nearby can get vaccinated.

Garing is surrounded by Barangays Lanipga, Polog and Panoypoy. Residents in these villages can go to Garing for vaccination. There is no need for them to pre-register.

Alegado said the mobile vaccination in mountain barangays could be expanded to other barangays in Consolacion if vaccination in the pilot barangay would turn out to be successful.

The Municipal Health Office has also been going around the barangays, asking for the list of bed-ridden individuals. The health personnel will conduct a house-to-house vaccination for them. (MVE)
