Consolacion to assess real estate properties

THE joint inspection team of the local government of Consolacion will conduct reassessment of its real estate properties. The local government announced through its social media post that its joint inspection team, composed of the Mayor’s Office, Municipal Assessor’s Office and Municipal Engineering’s Office, will conduct reassessment after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia ordered all municipal assessors in Cebu province to assess the value of real properties and their corresponding improvements within their areas of jurisdiction. In her Executive Order (EO) 37, Garcia also mandated all municipal assessors to issue a tax declaration to the concerned owners and transferees of these properties once the assessment has been made. This, despite the land classification of the property as part of timberlands, forest lands, wilderness areas, or no build zones only for the purposes of real property tax assessment.Garcia issued the order after noticing that the Provincial Government has not recorded some of the real properties and improvements in the province.“It hasn’t also assessed the current and fair market values nor issued corresponding tax declarations due to their land classification,” she said in the EO, noting the need to update and revise these “in conformity with the provisions on real property tax assessments laid down in Republic Act 7160, or the Local Government Code.”Consolacion Municipal Assessor Marilou Hatamosa Herrera and Municipal Administrator Benjamin Tibon have already sent letters to village chiefs, requesting their assistance and cooperation on the matter.“Aduna sila’y ipapilit nga stickers sa mga balay/structural improvements kun na assess na kini,” the Municipal Government said.
