Construction worker found dead after fishing in Carmen

A CONSTRUCTION worker was found dead near the Luyang Cove in Barangay Luyang, Carmen town, northern Cebu on Monday morning, June 20, 2022.The dead man was later identified as Rosalito Bayo Lumen, 45, a native of Barangay Cahumayan, Danao City.Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of Carmen Police Station, said they received a phone call from Coast Guard officer John Clifford de Niña around 11:45 a.m. informing them about the body that was found near the Luyang Cove.The victim was believed to have drowned while he went fishing on Sunday, which he usually did during his rest day, to provide food for his family.Gingoyon said that Lumen’s son, Jonel, also reported to their station on Monday morning after their father failed to go home.Jonel narrated to the police that they waited until 11 p.m. Sunday but their father had not come back yet.The relatives of the fatality were advised to have the cadaver autopsied to determine the cause of his death.”Naghuwat pa mi sa desisyon sa pamilya kung ipa autopsy ba nila ang biktima, mao dili sa mi ka disclose ug information kung naa ba gyud foul play o wala (We are still waiting for the family to decide on the victim’s autopsy, that’s why we could not yet disclose any information on whether or not there was foul play),” Gingoyon said.
