Cop who planned murder of Baringui-an couple still ‘on active duty’

A POLICE officer who was pinpointed to have planned the murders of Barangay Balungag, San Fernando councilor Maria Louela Baringui-an and her husband on February 13, 2022 is reportedly still on active duty.Maj. Timothy Romanillos, chief of the San Fernando Police Station, confirmed that Master Sgt. Alvin Enad is still under active service as a police officer but has been placed under camp restriction at the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) for his refusal to execute an extrajudicial confession for his role in the Baringui- an couple’s murder.But while Enad continues to remain under camp restriction, four of his cohorts, including three police officers, are currently detained at the Cebu City Jail.Staff Sgts. Rene Catamora, Junrey Ypil, Junrey Batobalonos and former police officer Esmeraldo Quillosa admitted their involvement in the robbery and murder of the couple on February 13. They also implicated Enad in their extrajudicial confessions.Enad has been charged with robbery with double homicide.Romanillos said they are waiting for the handling court to issue a warrant of arrest against Enad.On the evening of February 13, Catamora, Ypil, Batobalonos and Quillosa robbed and murdered Baringui-an and her husband at the couple’s house in Barangay Panadtaran, San Fernando town, Cebu.According to the suspects’ extrajudicial confessions, they committed the crime after Enad informed them that the couple were connected with the late self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones.Aside from that, Catamora admitted that he committed the crime after Enad offered to pay him P250,000.
