Cuenco: Battling the plastic bottle

One only has to look at the number of personal care items used in a day to become concerned about the volume of plastic waste that is being generated by every person. Although citizens and corporations are becoming more environmentally conscious, not many consumer goods or cosmetics companies have made a strong push to reduce plastic waste.Human Nature was one of the first in the industry and in the Philippines to continuously drive the advocacy to reduce plastic waste. One of its corporate values has always been environmental sustainability, as products are always formulated with locally sourced natural ingredients. It has continuously educated its customers about plastic waste reduction: there are more options to purchase by the liter or gallon instead of numerous small bottles, and more products are now being offered in boxed packaging instead of plastic bottles. Because of these conscious efforts, the company has saved 22 tons of plastic production—a true feat, considering ours is a nation accustomed to single-use plastics and sachets.Human Nature now offers the widest range of products in the Philippines that are not in plastic bottles, including shampoo bars, dishwashing powder, cleansing powder for baby bottles and the new sunflower face cleansing bar. All products continue to be natural, biodegradable, affordable and proudly made in the Philippines.
