Deadline for payment of biz, realty taxes moved to Feb. 20

THE Cebu City Government has extended the deadline for the payment of business and real property taxes to Feb. 20, 2021.

The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) urged taxpayers to pay their tax dues on or before the specified time to avoid paying penalties.

City Treasurer Mare Vae Reyes said the deadline of the business tax payment for the first quarter was supposed to end on Jan. 20.

According to a Facebook post of the Public Information Office (PIO), the City is aware that many businesses have suffered as a result of the ongoing coronavirus disease pandemic, which is why it has granted the extension.

Taxpayers have to set an appointment ahead of their visit to the SM City Cebu in Barangay Mabolo. CTO employees have to limit the number of clients in one day to avoid mass gathering.

Taxpayers may also pay online by visiting the website http://www.cebucity.gov.ph/. For the instruction or process, taxpayers may also visit http://bit.ly/3nm8lwG.

In 2020, the CTO already expected that it would not hit its target collection due to the health crisis. The finance committee had hoped that with the extension of the deadline, it could collect more.

Last year, the City Government extended the deadline for the payment of business and real property taxes twice due to the long quarantine and the economic crisis. (JJL)
