AN EDUCATION official in Central Visayas is in favor of the decision of the Department of Education (DepED) to allow the optional wearing of face masks on school grounds.
The DepEd’s central office announced on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, that the wearing of face masks in open spaces or non-crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation, as well as in playing sports and other physical activities, will now be voluntary.
DepEd 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez said he welcomed the idea of giving the students an option on whether they would wear their face mask, especially during their physical education classes that are usually held in open spaces like school grounds.
Jimenez said the DepEd 7 has not recorded a single Covid-19 case since the partial face-to-face classes began last Aug. 22. All public and private schools will have five-day in-person classes starting Nov. 2. (ANV / TPT)
