CEBUANA triathlete Moira Frances Erediano made her presence felt Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at the Southeast Asian Triathlon Association (Seata) Race in Desaru, Malaysia.The 17-year-old nabbed second place in the female Seata elite junior after clocking in 1 hour, 14 minutes and 1 second in the 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run.Erediano was 30 seconds behind Seata elite junior champion and teammate Katrina Salazar. Teo She Hui finished in third place with a time of 1:14:49.The Grade 12 student of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu smashed the 20K bike course clocking in 36:33 to put herself in contention after trailing in the swim part with 13:36.Erediano and Salazar were toe-to-toe in the run leg with the two runners having 23:04 and 23:08 time.The Philippine team sent by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap) is composed of Erediano, Salazar and Francisco Baniqued, who finished second in the men’s Seata Elite Under-23.Baniqued crossed the finish line in 1:02:55, a minute behind champion Xian Hao Chong. Luke Chua nabbed third place in 1:03:07.Last month, Erediano of TeamBikeStop/Go For Gold PH also placed second in the TriFactor Dong Nai-Vietnam Duathlon held in Dong Nai, Vietnam.Since the return of triathlon events after a two-year hiatus caused by Covid-19 restrictions, Erediano has racked up wins in local and international races.She was the overall female winner in the Dumaguete City Triathlon last April, topped the 15-19 years old category of the Sun Life 5150 race in Panglao Island, Bohol in July and secured podium spot in the Tagudin, Ilocos Sur Triathlon/Duathlon in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur also in July.
