Espina: Learning and technology

The pandemic and other social crisis matters have led to integrated website teaching and learning. Graduate schools of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), the University of the Visayas (UV), the University of San Carlos, among others, had to shift to some online classes. These institutions facilitated a good number of students from several regions to continue their courses.Dr. Matt Baguia of UV had very fruitful lessons both in blended and face-to-face strategies in selected Masteral and Doctoral programs.I had some “knowledge sharing” with my Doctoral students from the Visayas and Mindanao in the Graduate School of USJ-R.In fact, I had few students from across the globe who sought technical alternatives to continue their post-graduate studies. The Pinoy’s passion to learn is incomparable. With the help of technology, students utilize high-tech facilities to enrich research. The application of technology, like webinars, or other technical substitutes for the usual seminars and theater stagecraft, had exposed the students to multiple high-tech learning processes. And even teachers like me learned from their improvisations. There is no substitute for face-to-face learning but the current crisis needs some other teaching methodologies through the help of technology. As long as the human element in learning is intact, we shouldn’t worry about viable shifts to selective technological mechanisms.“In my Diary” kept some interesting webinars in English, literature and education.
