Who would ever imagine that this “once upon a time market place for flowers and other stuff” will now stand as one majestic tourism landmark. I used to view the busy, noisy place from the second floor window of my Graduate school Saturday class. It has always been a very busy place being close to the Carbon Public Market.
A city tour will now feature Freedom Park with the rest of the other historic vestiges in Colon, the oldest street, the Magellan Cross, the Sto. Niño Church, the Fort San Pedro, among others.
During the Yuletide season, the Freedom Park will be brightened with its glimmering lights in the evening, along with a big colorful Christmas tree.
Every other tree will also have its own décor. The usual Belen structure in the frontage of the USJ-R main building completes the meaningful scenario.
We hope the Cebuanos help in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the renovated Freedom Park.
