Espina: Zontians in 2023

Zonta Club of Cebu 1 is gearing towards more prolific programs in 2023, specifically in education, health and women issues. The following is the report of past president Matt Baguia. First General Membership Meeting (GMM) of Zonta Club Cebu 1, accentuating the Sinulog Fever, enumerates the following highlights:

–A hybrid lecture delivered by Fr. Rollie Richie Gomez, MSC, on “Ecological Impact of Climate Change and Integral Ecology.”

–Giving of Cash Award (P10,000) and Certificate of Recognition to Ranyah Dawn D. Heredia, as the club winner of the Jane M. Klausman (JMK) Women in Business Scholarship, owing to her accomplishments as an MBA Student in the University of the Philippines.

–Possible partnership with a higher education institution that offers a scholarship program for the Ten Outstanding Public High School Graduates (TOPHSG) Awardees.

–Ocular inspection and evaluation of the “Home of Love,” a shelter for the victims of varied abuses; a training program as a source of livelihood for the survivors.

–Lectures on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) to be replicated in public high schools in Cebu.

–Turnover of books to IBA Elementary School, the club’s adopted school.

–Induction and Installation of new members and officers of the Benedicto College Z (BC-Z) club.

–Inter school oratorical contest in March at Benedicto College, sponsored by the club and initiated by the BC-Z club.

– Circadian Lectures in March for business process outsourcing employees with medical doctors as speakers.
