FOR over two decades, father and son Danilo and Roldan Booc buried a dark memory and went about their lives.But the past caught up with the two when they were arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Mandaue City Field Unit in Sitio Paradise, Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2022.Major Richard Jhon Macachor served the warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 5 Judge Jose Alfonso Maliper Gomos in Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday, September 27.The Boocs’ crime?In May 1999, 70-year-old Danilo, then 47, and 44-year-old Roldan, then 21, had a drinking spree with their boss at a construction site.Another man who was drinking nearby suddenly had a tantrum and attacked the elder Booc with a piece of wood. The son rushed to his father’s defense and ended up stabbing the attacker with a knife.Danilo and Roldan were later charged with frustrated homicide. According to Macachor, the Boocs were in the top 10 most wanted persons in the municipal level.Bail for their temporary liberty was set at P12,000 each.
