Frutas acquires 100% equity of Fly Kitchen Inc.

FRUITAS Holdings Inc. has announced its acquisition of Fly Kitchen Inc., a three-year-old cloud company founded by Kristopher George Yang (president of First Georgetown Ventures) and Marco Alquiros.

With this acquisition, Fruitas said in a press statement on June 1, it will accelarate the growth of its cloud kitchen business.

The company, which operates food and beverage community stores and kiosks, had previously announced the launch of its own cloud kitchen, Nubina Kuxina, in the third quarter of 2022.

A cloud kitchen is a commercial kitchen space that does not have a front-of-house area for customers to dine in. Instead, it is used to prepare food for delivery or takeout only.

Cloud kitchens are also known as ghost kitchens, virtual kitchens or dark kitchens.

Under the agreement, Fruitas said it will purchase all of the outstanding shares of Fly Kitchen. Among Fly Kitchen’s key assets are the leasehold interests in the company’s four kitchens, all of its inventory and equipment, recipes and other technical know-how. The transaction was closed on Thursday, June 1. (PR)
