Issuance, renewal of biz permit extended

THE Lapu-Lapu City Government has extended the deadline for the issuance and renewal of business permits for one week to accommodate more business owners.

The effectivity of the three-week renewal and issuance expired on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.

The move is part of the City’s compliance of the ease of doing business law.

Business owners can visit the Hoops Dome in Barangay Gun-ob for their transactions. The venue was chosen as it has a big space, which ensures social distancing policy is observed.

The process only involves three steps:

The first step is the application and evaluation phase. It requires the business owner to submit an application form, barangay clearance or city clearance and lease contract for renewal of permits. The new applicants must submit the same documents the same as those seeking to renew their permits, but they must present a locational clearance and the Department of Trade and Industry or the Securities and Exchange Commission registration.

The second step is the assessment and payment. The last step is the issuance of the business permit and the applicants must present the proof of payment of business tax and the requirements mentioned in the first step.

The first off-site business permit renewal and issuance started last Jan. 4.

Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, in a Facebook post on Jan. 4, 2021, said city residents who are unable to go in person can also pay their transaction like real property tax via online.lapulapucity.gov.ph.

Chan said taxpayers can transact comfortably at Hoops Dome as it has free WiFi and a television. Free snacks are also served, he said. (JOB from AST)
