Land Bank turns over cash cards for Cebu City’s senior citizens

THE Land Bank of the Philippine (LBP) turned over nearly 10,000 cash cards for Cebu City residents who are 60 years old and above to the City Government for an easy distribution of financial assistance on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

This was the second batch of cash cards turned over by the LBP to the City Government.

Earlier this year, the government-owned bank had issued 15,000 cash cards.

Mayor Edgardo Labella pushed for the use of cash cards as he wants to avoid mass gathering during the distribution of financial aid to the senior citizens as the city is still in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic.

Office of the Mayor’s chief of staff Mary Rose Lubino said an additional 9,731 cash cards were handed to the City by the LBP Plaza Independencia branch, which was led by its manager Vivian Bisnar.

City Councilor Raymond Garcia, who represented Labella in the turnover, accepted the cash cards along with City Treasurer Noel Wenceslao.

Bisnar assured that once the City Government sends the updated information of the remaining 56,000 senior citizens, the LBP will immediately submit the list to the bank’s production department to produce the cash cards. (PAC / KAL)
