Lapu jail detainees get Covid-19 jabs

AROUND 1,500 detainees of Lapu-Lapu City Jail (LLCJ)’s male and female dorms were inoculated with Covid-19 vaccines on Friday, August 27, 2021.

Supt. Jessie Calumpang, LLCJ warden, told SunStar Cebu that personnel of the Lapu-Lapu City Health Office started vaccinating on their detainees at 8 a.m.

They were able to conclude vaccinations at 11 p.m.

Calumpang said due to the lack of time, around 300 detainees were not vaccinated.

Calumpang said city health personnel will be back on Tuesday, August 31, to complete vaccinations on the remaining detainees.

He said that some of their detainees who were senior citizens and with co-morbidities were given the single-dose Janssen vaccine and while the rest were given the Sinovac vaccine.

Those who received the Sinovac vaccines will be given their second dose after 28 days.

The detainees have not show any side effects after getting vaccinated, Calumpang added.

Calumpang said that the LLCJ still has zero Covid-19 cases.(GCM / JKV)
