Lapu-Lapu intelligence unit head: P300 million shabu seized in 10 months

THE head of the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office revealed that they were able to confiscate around 42 kilos of suspected shabu amounting to P285.6 million since he assumed the post 10 months ago.

CIU head Police Lieutenant Colonel Jul Muhammad Jamiri said 41 kilos of the total drug haul were seized in six buy-bust operations.

Jamiri explained that during the first few months of his new assignment, they were only able to catch small-time drug dealers until they eventually arrested big-time drug personalities based on the information provided by their captives.

Among the biggest drug haul was five kilos of suspected shabu worth P34 million that they seized from Rosell Morales Arda during a raid on Friday afternoon, October 14, 2022 on ML Quezon Street, Barangay Ibo.

Jamiri said that their drug supply came from Luzon, while others from Mindanao.

Police they conducted an illegal drug transactions with Arda three times before they finally arrested her.

Arda was sent to jail in 2008 due to illegal drug activity and was released in 2019.

Jamiri believed that one of the reasons why drug pushers like to operate in Lapu-lapu City is because the price of illegal substance there is more expensive than the other places.

“Diri man gud sa Lapu-lapu medyo mahal ang baligya it means nga nihit ang suplay. Diri sa Lapu-lapu they are more vigilant sa ilang mga lakaw and rarely stay in one place for more than one week ang uban gani tag two days ug three days lang sila. We are so lucky kay ang mga Oponganons are very supportive in our anti-drug campaign,” Jamiri said.

(Here in Lapu-lapu they sell high, it means that the supply is scarce. Here in Lapu-lapu they are more vigilant in their movement and rarely stay in one place for more than one week, others other spend two or three days. We are so lucky because the Oponganons are very supportive in our anti drug campaign.)

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Elmer Lim, the new police chief in Lapu-Lapu City, praised his men for their success in anti-illegal drug operations.

Lim, who just assumed office on Tuesday as the new police director of Lapu-lapu City, cited the close coordination between the barangay officials and the

police as the reason behind their success. (BBT, TPT)
