Lapu’s job order workers get salary hike for 2022

ALL job order (JO) employees in Lapu-Lapu City will soon receive a P50 across-the-board increase in their daily compensation for the period of January 1 to December 31, 2022.

The City Council approved on Thursday, December 1, the ordinance authored by Councilor Annabeth Cuizon with regards to the compensation increase.

Cuizon noted that there had been remarkable increases in the prices of basic commodities in the past months, putting a strain on the household budgets of their personnel.

“There is a need to ease the strain that our personnel are now experiencing to ensure that our household necessities are provided for,” said Cuizon.

Under the ordinance, all JO personnel who have been hired in 2022 and reported for work within the period are entitled to a compensation differential.

It further said the appropriations for the increase shall be taken from the accounts where the respective compensations of the job order personnel are charged.

“All ordinances, resolutions, executive issuances, or rules and regulations, or parts thereof, whose provisions are inconsistent with or contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance, are hereby deemed repealed, amended, or modified accordingly,” the ordinance reads.

Based on their latest headcount, Dennis Mario Calvo, head of Lapu-Lapu City’s Human Resource Department, revealed that the City has about 3,578 JO personnel.

Calvo told SunStar Cebu that the P408.84 daily rate of the said personnel would now be 458.84 for the said period following the approval of the ordinance.

The HRD head said employees will receive the wage adjustment before Christmas 2022.
