Lausa steps into cage again

FORMER UFC fighter Jenel Lausa will be back in the cage after a long break from MMA as he takes on unbeaten Afghan Rahmatullah Yousufzai in Brave CF 47 – Asian Domination on March 11, 2021 at the National Stadium in Bahrain.

The 32-year-old Lausa hasn’t fought in MMA since his last stint in the UFC in 2018.

He, however, fought in a boxing match in 2019, wherein he won by split decision over Rolly Lino.

Lausa rose to prominence after a split decision win over Crisanto Pitpitunge to become the PXC flyweight champion in 2016.

Lausa got noticed by the UFC and given a contract. He made his UFC debut on Nov. 26, 2016, in which he beat Chinese Zhikui Yao by unanimous decision in UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Brunson in Melbourne, Australia.

Lausa’s success in the UFC was short-lived, however, as he lost his next three contests and was cut by the organization.

He lost to Magomend Bibulatov and Eric Shelton both by unanimous decision in 2017 and was submitted by Ulka Sasaki via a rear-naked choke in 2018.

Lausa recently signed a contract with Brave CF.

Meanwhile, Yousufzai made his pro debut in Afghanistan FC 7, wherein he stopped Monir Ahmad Noori in 2018.

He won his next two fights in the Afghanistan-based Truly Grand FC — both unanimous decision victories over Nazur-Ahmad Hashimi and Ajmal Ghaznawi.

He finally made his debut in the Brave CF and beat Abdulmanap Magomedove by knockout in the opening round in 2020.

Lausa is 7-5, while Yousufzai is 4-0.

The main event of Brave CF 47 is former UFC fighter Rolando Dy (14-9), the son of Filipino boxing legend Rolando Navarette, who will be up against Abdisalam Kubanychbek (17-3) in a lightweight title eliminator. (EKA)
