THE tandem of presidential candidate Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo and vice presidential candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan will hold a grand rally in Cebu City on April 21, 2022.“We want this to be the grandest rally in Central Visayas,” said senatorial candidate Teodoro “Teddy” Baguilat during a press conference on Monday, April 11, 2022.Baguilat said the April 21 rally will precede another grand rally in Manila that will be held on April 23, which is Vice President Robredo’s birthday.Baguilat expressed optimism that the turnout during the grand rally in Cebu would surpass the 220,000 attendance that was recorded in Robredo’s rally in Pampanga last Saturday, April 9.The Pampanga rally’s massive attendance was made despite being held in the bailiwick of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.Aside from the Pampanga rally, Robredo and Pangilinan also attracted close to 76,000 people during their April 8 rally in Pangasinan, a known bailiwick of the Marcoses.Baguilat, a former mayor, governor and representative of Ifugao province, said the Leni-Kiko tandem is expecting to gather around a million people to join Robredo two days before her birthday and during the rally in Manila.Robredo and Pangilinan, an outgoing senator, had their first campaign activity in Cebu City last Feb. 24 at the Southwestern University-Phinma gym that was attended by around 10,000 supporters.Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III, who is campaigning for Robredo in Cebu Province, is calling for supporters of the presidential candidate in the province to join their April 21 rally.
