M4.2 quake hits Bohol

A MAGNITUDE 4.2 earthquake shook some parts of the Visayas Tuesday evening, October 12, 2021.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the quake occurred at 11:16 p.m. with the epicenter located five kilometers southeast of Sagbayan, Bohol.

Sagbayan was also the epicenter of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that killed more than 200 people on October 15, 2013.

Tuesday’s tremor had a depth of four kilometers, said Phivolcs.

It added that damage is expected but the quake will not trigger aftershocks.

The tremor was felt in the following areas:

Intensity 4 — Inabanga, Tubigon, Calape and Bilar, Bohol

Intensity 3 — Sikatuna, Loon and Loay, Bohol

Intensity 2 — Tagbilaran City, Bohol

Instrumental Intensity I – Lapu- Lapu City, Cebu
