WHO would have thought that a game of heads or tails would prove to be fatal?But for Aladdin Jabonero Junio, a 46-year-old resident of Sitio Kadasig Phase 4 in Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City, it was.Junio was shot dead while he was playing the popular but illegal gambling game in Sitio Olibo, just a few steps from his house, on Friday night, September 30, 2022.According to Major Janelito Marquez, chief of the Labangon Police Station, the incident happened around 8:50 p.m.Based on their initial investigation, the gunman was in the crowd betting on the game when he suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Junio in the shoulder.The victim was able to run for a few meters before falling to the ground.The gunman went after him and finished Junio off with a shot to the head, which killed the latter.Police withheld the identity of the suspect pending investigation.Although they have yet to establish a motive for the shooting, Marquez said it was possible the suspect got angry because he lost and blamed it on Junio’s bad coin toss.However, he said they will look into other angles.Police recovered a gun of an undetermined caliber, a bullet shell and a live bullet at the scene.
