Man stabbed after leaving drinking spree in Bogo City

A 57-YEAR-OLD man got wounded after he was hacked by his drinking buddy who did not allow him to leave around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2023, in Barangay Gairan, Bogo City, northern Cebu.

Erlindo Rondina Tolero, a farmer, sustained hack wounds in the head and other parts of the body.

The suspect identified as Oscar Pepito, 44, single, also got wounded during a scuffle.

Pepito is reportedly a mute who works as a tricycle driver.

Case investigator Staff Sergeant Leliano Pepito Jr. of Bogo City Police Station said an interview with SunStar Cebu that Tolero and Pepito had a drinking session on Friday afternoon.

He said the victim asked permission to go home for a while to cook food for dinner.

Besides, the victim have had enough alcohol.

As Tolero walked towards home, the suspect followed him and asked for more drinks but the victim strongly refused.

Because of this, Pepito got angry and an argument ensued between them.

The victim reportedly got a bolo and tried to hit the suspect with it, but the latter grabbed the weapon from Tolero.

“Ingon sa biktima iyaha ra untang hudlaton ang suspek maong nikuha siyag sundang! Na unsa man na-ilugan naman siya sa sundang natigbasan,” Pepito said.

(The victim said he only threatened the suspect that’s why he got a bolo. But he was overpowered and hacked instead).

Pepito also got wounded during their scuffle.

It was learned that Tolero often paid for the alcoholic beverages whenever he and Pepito had a drinking session.

During investigation, Pepito only used a hand gesture to communicate with the police.

A frustrated homicide case is now being readied by the police against Pepito. (GPL, TPT)
