THE Mandaue City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) said the reported fourth case of the Delta variant in the city may have already recovered.
This after the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7) announced on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 that 24 locals and two returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) were additional cases of the Delta variant including one new case from Mandaue City.
August Lizer Malate, EOC head, said they have checked on the new reported case of the Delta variant and found that results of the genome sequencing took a long time to come out.
Malate said they have requested the DOH 7 to inform them ahead of patients being tested for the Delta variant so that they can continue to monitor the case.
Malate said after the quarantine period of a possible Delta case, the EOC will reswab the patient to ensure that the individual has recovered.
Despite the reported Delta cases, Malate said infections in Mandaue City have stabilized and slowed down.
He said while 1,400 additional cases were recorded for the first 15 days of August,
averaging 97 cases a day, the cases lowered to 85 cases daily from Aug. 16-30.
Though improving, Malate, however, admitted the cases are still high.
He said the presence of the Delta variant could be the cause of the spike of cases in the city.
He said placing Mandaue City under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) has helped to stabilize the cases.
Malate assured the City is well prepared to handle any situation arising from the Covid-19 crisis.
