Mandaue to go house to house to register residents for vax jab

THE Mandaue City Government has implemented a full-blown vaccination registration program in all its 27 barangays through a house-to-house procedure starting Monday, June 21, 2021.

It initially launched a house-to-house registration for those belonging to the A1 (health care workers) and A2 (senior citizens) priority groups before it launched its online registration.

This time, it wants to register all eligible residents, including minors, said August Lizer Malate, the City’s Emergency Operations Center head.

That way, they won’t have to go back out to register them if the government decides to vaccinate another priority group, he said, adding that by going house to house, they can get to residents who are unreachable or who do not know how to register online.

Malate said the registration will be conducted by barangay personnel with the help of City Hall personnel.

He said they need to submit a masterlist to the national government so the City will receive its vaccine allocation.

He encouraged all residents, whether they decide to get the jab or not, to register for the program so they will be assigned a slot.

Before they launched this program, Malate said more than 80,000 individuals had registered to be vaccinated, which is 30 percent of the target population of 295,000 individuals to achieve herd immunity.

Malate said they needed to fast-track the registration because the deadline to submit the master list is July 1.

He said they also need to properly plot the City’s vaccination program to inoculate the desired population.

He said more vaccine allocations may arrive in the following weeks.

According to the report of the Mandaue City Vaccination Operations Center, 30,651 individuals in the city have received their first dose of the vaccine, while 4,778 have been fully vaccinated as of Thursday, June 17.

Meanwhile, Malate said they’ve been able to achieve their target of vaccinating at least 800 individuals daily.

When the City resumed its vaccine rollout last week after receiving the latest delivery of vaccines from the Department of Health 7, they were able to vaccinate almost 2,000 individuals daily, he said.

The biggest number of individuals they vaccinated in a day was 3,400, he said.

Mandaue City has four vaccination sites. These are J Centre Mall, the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex, the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue campus new building and the Pacific Mall. (KFD)
