Mandaue to open 5th vax site

WITH more people interested to get vaccinated, Mandaue City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) sees the need to open another vaccination site in the city.

Existing vaccination sites in the city are the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex, University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu Mandaue (UCLM), Pacific Mall, and JCentre Mall.

EOC eyes to have the second floor of Parkmall as the new vaccination site.

Lawyer August Lizer Malate, EOC head, told SunStar Cebu they had already inspected the area on Friday, July 9, 2021, and they can see that the area is feasible to be a vaccination site.

Next week, Malate said, they will schedule a reassessment of the area before officially opening it.

After they officially open Parkmall as a vaccination site, Malate said the site will accommodate jabs for both the first dose and second dose.

Malate said on Friday, July 9, the four sites vaccinated nearly 1,000 individuals per site.

With this, Malate said, they decided to open another vaccination site to decongest some of their vax sites.

They also recorded the highest count of vaccinated individuals in a day, which is 3,992.

Malate added that after they posted on their Facebook page on July 8 that they resumed their vaccination for the first dose and after they started to vaccinate some residents and workers with the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, they noticed that the flocking of people to its existing vaccination sites was overwhelming.

Last Thursday, July 8, Mandaue City received 4,000 doses of Sinovac.

In addition, 10,530 individuals are scheduled to receive their second dose of the Pfizer shot starting July 9 and to finish within seven days.

They also considered that their target number of individuals to get vaccinated at each site is only 800 individuals. (KFD)
