Mandaue VOC set to educate minors about vaccination against Covid-19

THE Mandaue City Vaccination Operations Center (VOC) will formulate a customized approach on its information education campaign for the vaccination of the minors to encourage them to get their jabs.

As of Sept. 24, 2021, the VOC said a total of 8,495 minors aged 12 years old to 17 years old registered for the vaccination.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sept. 28 announced that the minors might be able to get their jab in October. Before his announcement, the Department of Health (DOH) had urged local government units to start registering minors for vaccination.

In Mandaue City, Mayor Jonas Cortes’ executive secretary John Eddu Ibañez said the city VOC is now working on customizing their information drive to their target beneficiaries to address their concerns over vaccination.

He said they have done a customized approach during the vaccination of the market vendors.

Ibañez said through the customized information drive the city understands that the hesitancy of the vendors in getting vaccinated was not about the vaccination but they do not want to leave their stalls or close their stall just to get their jab. For this reason, they conducted the vaccination at the Mandaue City Public Market.

The VOC will be formulating its approach towards the minors in the coming days.

Ibañez said they urged all the minors who have yet to register online to register through the link posted on the Mandaue VOC official Facebook page. (KFD)
