Mandaue’s Christmas exhibit to promote local businesses

THE Mandaue City Government launched a Christmas-themed exhibit on Friday, December 10, 2021, to promote the city’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The exhibit, located at the Mantawi International Drive at the North Reclamation Area, will be open to the public until December 12 from 11 in the morning until 8 in the evening.

The Mandaue Investment Promotion Action Center (MIPAC) has partnered with private industries to serve as mentors for individuals who wanted to start their own business.

The exhibit promotes 26 stalls that offer a variety of food products, services and destinations that can be experienced in Mandaue City.

Featured entrepreneurs are Lea Mayol of Mayol’s Special Bibingka, Nelson Rabino of VCente Batchoyan, Lora Evalca of Sugbo Sarsa, and couple John Paul and Merryl Marie Maunes of Dubby’s Ultimate Burger.

Evalca was also one of the winners of the recently held Sugbo Negosyo of the Cebu Provincial Government.

Kristian Marc Cabahug, MIPAC executive director, said the purpose of the event is to promote local business as the city recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cabahug also mentioned that MIPAC can offer a “business incubator” for those individuals who have potential business ideas but do not know how to start them.

Cabahug said the pandemic has resulted in the closure of 400 enterprises and their goal right now is to increase the number of start-up businesses in the city.

The MIPAC is also promoting industrial tourism that will allow the public to visit and experience industries and enterprises situated in the city.

Cabahug said they are promoting this type of tourism since they cannot compete with the beaches and resorts similar to those in Lapu-Lapu City
