Micro business registration made easier, now online

TO IMPROVE ease of doing business by streamlining and automating key services, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) – Online.

The BMBE-Online is a web-based registration system that allows remote application and automated processing of BMBE Certificate of Authority (CA) anytime, anywhere.

ATE Clothier (ATE by Tatah) owner Tatah Dela Calzada processed her BMBE renewal in DTI Cebu through the Negosyo Center on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022.

Dela Calzada said the system is very convenient and easy to use.

Dela Calzada wrote in her feedback form: “Really fast and real-time output. Good Job DTI!”

The whole process took about 10 minutes as per the Negosyo Center, which included the registration of account and input of business details in the website.

BMBE is defined as any business entity or enterprise engaged in production, processing, or manufacturing of products or commodities, including agro-processing, as well as trading and services.

The asset size of a qualified enterprise should also not be more than P3 million (such assets shall include those arising from loans but not the land on which the plant and equipment are located).

The BMBE Certificate of Authority is effective for a period of two years commencing from the date of issuance.

The CA may be renewed for the same period of two years and every two years thereafter subject to the applicant’s continued compliance with the eligibility requirements prescribed by law.

According to DTI, the development of the BMBE-Online is one of the DTI’s key initiatives of digitalizing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME)-related services in accordance with the Ease of Doing Business Law of streamlining and automating government processes, MSME Development Plan 2017-2022 of improving business environment for MSMEs, and the Marcos Administration’s eight- point socio-economic agenda of improving bureaucratic efficiency.

The BMBE-ONLINE can be accessed through https://bmbe.dti.gov.ph/ for new and renewal registrations. (PR)
