New customs brokers group leaders in Cebu take oath of office

THE Cebu Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc. (CCBI) Cebu Chapter underscored a fair-playing field and unity among the customs brokers as its new breed of leaders took their oath of office at the Bai Hotel in Mandaue City on Monday, June 14, 2021.

Ronald P. Grancho, newly inducted president of CCBI Cebu, said the thrust of the current leadership of the CCBI Cebu is to foster camaraderie and harmony among the chamber officers and members.

“I want every incumbent officer of CCBI.Cebu to have a clear understanding that the primary purpose of leading the organization is to serve and nothing else. Make your other motives only secondary to service,” Grancho said in his speech.

Along with Grancho, the other officers who took their oath before Bureau of Customs (BOC) Cebu acting collector Charlito Martin Mendoza were Charmine C. Garcia, executive vice president; Harly Kenn O. Villasor, vice president for internal; Geraldine S. Secuya, vice president for external; Erwin C. Andaya, vice president for professional development; Alfredo B. Regidor Jr., vice president for government affairs; Sanchie Kyra M. Nudnud, secretary; Beverly A. Cabelino, treasurer; Dandel I. Magto, auditor; and Vic C. Alburo, press relations officer.

The Board of Directors who also took their oath of office on Monday were Junnic Presley A. Carin, Resty Polo E. Lope, Maria Lourdes Y. Mercader, Juliever G. Colcol and Maidee C. Sano.

Grancho said as proactive partners of the national government in revenue generation for the state’s lifeblood through the collection efforts of the Bureau of Customs, the CCBI Cebu will always emphasize the interchangee of ideas on how to improve services to the clientele—the importers— without sacrificing fair play and unanimity.

Grancho also vowed to make his administration an active partner of the Port of Cebu and the Subport of Mactan in efforts for good governance.

“As we take our oath to serve with utmost responsibility and dedication, and with good faith, let’s not forget our bounden duty to assist the Bureau of Customs in its revenue collection efforts and campaign against smuggling,” Grancho said.

The newly inducted president of CCBI Cebu also urged his colleagues to support the programs and policies of the BOC central office, especially in its effort to meet the revenue target set by the Department of Finance.

In his message, Mendoza urged the new officers of the CCBI Cebu to keep themselves abreast with the updates in taxation, customs rules, orders and procedures to help importers comply with the rules.

“Only by being a stickler for compliance can you, dear members of the CCBI, stand by your duty to ensure that their shipment is not delayed, their obligation to pay duties and taxes is properly carried out, and in so doing, they may continue to do business,” Mendoza said.
