New market schedule to limit number of shoppers

THE Talisay City Government will impose a new market schedule starting Monday, Feb. 1, 2021.

The City wants to limit the number of people going to public and private markets, including malls, in light of the rise in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in Metro Cebu and the rest of Cebu Province.

Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. issued a memorandum directing local police, traffic and market officials and other concerned agencies to strictly implement guidelines of his Executive Order 28, which placed the city under modified general community quarantine.

Aside from a quarantine pass, all marketgoers will be required to present a valid identification card.

Based on the new market schedule, residents of Barangays Lagtan, San Roque, Cansojong, Tanke, Lawaan 3, Linao, Biasong, Lawaan 2, Candulawan, Jaclupan and Tapul can do their shopping on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Residents of Barangays Bulacao, Tabunok, Dumlog, San Isidro, Poblacion, Maghaway, Lawaan 1, Mohon, Pooc, Manipis and Campo can go on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Markets will be open to everyone on Sunday.

Gullas’ latest order, however, does not apply to residents going to establishments considered essential like pharmacies, money remittance centers and eateries.

On Wednesday, Jan. 27, Talisay City logged 13 new Covid-19 cases, bringing total active cases to 79.

Barangay Linao recorded the highest number of active cases with 12.

Since the pandemic started in March last year, Talisay City has logged 1,161 cases, of which 979 have recovered. A total of 103 patients have died. / REV / PJB
