No Covid-19 transmission at MCPO headquarters, says official

Of the 16 police officers that got Covid-19, two were unvaccinated, Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) spokesperson Lt. Col. Mercy Villaro says

Villaro clarifies that the two officers were already scheduled for vaccination but didn’t push through after they showed symptoms of Covid-19

OFFICIALS of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) denied that Covid-19 transmission occurred at their headquarters even though 16 of their personnel recently got infected.

Lt. Col. Mercy Villaro, MCPO spokesperson, assured that no workplace tranmission occurred at their headquarters as they immediately conduct contact tracing if one of their personnel is found positive of Covid-19.

Villaro believed that the 16 police officers may have got Covid-19 somewhere else as when they conducted contact tracing on the 16 police officers’ last contacts, they found that not one of their colleagues at MCPO got infected.

Villaro said they have coordinated with the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (Bhert) where their police officers are living so that the officer and his or her family will be contact traced.

The 16 police officers are being isolated in an undisclosed facility, Villaro said.

Majority of the police officers were asymptomatic or were not showing symptoms.

Of the 16 police officers that got Covid-19, two were unvaccinated.

But Villaro clarified the two officers were already scheduled for vaccination but didn’t push through after they showed symptoms of Covid-19.

Villaro said that out of the 558 police officers assigned at the MCPO, only 24 are unvaccinated.

She said the 24 unvaccinated police officers were not able to get their inoculations as they were deferred vaccination after recently recovering from Covid-19.

As part of their measures, Villaro said unvaccinated personnel were only assigned inside the office and were not allowed to go on fieldwork. (KFD)
