No robbery involved in shooting of money lender

AN INDIAN national who has a money lending business was gunned down by in Sitio Dubai Sudtunggan, Barangay Basak in Lapu-Lapu City on Friday morning, May 21, 2021.

Police identified him as Targatram Singh, 32, a resident of Genesis Subdivision, Sitio Suba-Masulog in Barangay Basak.

Police Msgt. Richard Alforque of the Marigondon Police Station said, based on eyewitness accounts, Singh just left his house and was on his way

to visit the houses of his customers. A man was tailing him, Alforque said.

The man took out a pistol and shot Singh, then fled aboard a tricycle.

Residents nearby took Singh to a nearby hospital but the Indian eventually died from his wound.

Based on their initial investigation, police found that Singh had all his belongings, including money, that he had carried with him.

Alforque said this ruled out the possibility that the assailant was out to rob Singh.

“We are still conducting further investigation since we can’t determine a possible motive to the incident,” Alforque said, in Cebuano.(GCM/JKV)
