Officials to lead CCLEX ramp groundbreaking

THE ceremonial groundbreaking and time capsule laying of the multi-billion ramp that will connect N. Bacalso Avenue and V. Rama Avenue to the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) will be done Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, Cordova Mayor Cesar Suan, and Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC) president and general manager Allan Go Alfon will attend the event, which will be held on corner Sanciangko and Panganiban Streets in Barangay Pahina Central.

Alfon said the ramp is worth P2 billion to P3 billion and will cater to more or less 12,000 vehicles that need to pass by CCLEX by 2024.

Based on the program of the activities, Alfon will give the welcome remarks at 8 a.m. Tuesday, to be followed by Rama’s keynote speech. Suan will also give a message.

Alfon said the groundbreaking ceremony will serve as the first step in the construction of the ramp, which will provide motorists from N. Bacalso and V. Rama Avenues, particularly those from Barangay Guadalupe, Escario Street, Barangay Labangon and nearby areas access to the CCLEX, which connects Cebu City and Cordova town on Mactan Island.

Building the ramp was part of the original plan of Rama when he envisioned the CCLEX in 2013, when he was chairman of the Regional Development Council in Central Visayas. The plan, however, was changed when Tomas Osmeña won the 2016 elections.

In crafting the plan for the ramp, engineers of CCLEC have to ensure that not many informal settlers will be affected by the project. After the plan, the detailed engineering design will be done.

The ceremonial groundbreaking and time capsule laying on Tuesday is a result of the investment marketing Rama and his core group had conducted in Manila. (PAC / LMY)
