Omega Boys victorious in Kumbati 11

THE Omega Boys all came out victorious in “Kumbati 11” last Oct. 22, 2021 at the IPI Compound in Mandaue City, Cebu.

International Boxing Federation No. 7 rated light flyweight Christan Araneta made quick work of veteran Arnold Garde with a first round knockout in the main event.

Garde came out aggressively, throwing some wallops to Araneta’s head. Araneta defended well and was very patient in picking his punches. Near the end of the round, Araneta threw a left straight that grazed Garde’s head and dropped him to the canvas. Garde was dazed and failed to beat the referee’s count for a knockout win for Araneta in the 2:25 mark.

Araneta improved to 21-2 with 17 knockouts, while Garde dropped to 10-11-3 with four knockouts.

On the other hand, Tomjune Mangubat stopped former teammate Allan Villanueva in the seventh round of an all-out war.

Mangubat was more accurate with his punches and was very effective with his counter punches. It was a good scrap from two very aggressive and brave fighters.

In the seventh round, Mangubat rocked Villanueva with a right uppercut to the jaw. He followed it up with body punches to a tired Villanueva. A left uppercut to the midsection finally dropped Villanueva. He was counted out in the 2:49 mark.

Mangubat is now 15-2-1 with 12 knockouts, while Villanueva lost his second straight fight and fell to 11-2 with eight knockouts.

In the undercard, Franco Serafica (7-1, 4 KOs) stopped John Kenan Villaflor (8-8-4, 2 KOs) in the seventh round, while Benny Cañete (4-0, 3 KOs) knocked Mark Jequinto (4-8-1).
