Only 16 barangays in Mandaue have active Covid-19 cases

ONLY 16 barangays in Mandaue City remain to have active Covid-19 cases as of March 21, 2022.These include barangays Banilad, Basak, Cabancalan, Cambaro, Canduman, Casili, Cubacub, Ibabao-Estancia, Jagobiao, Maguikay, Mantuyong, Pakn-a-an, Subangdaku, Tabok, Tipolo, and Umapad.Dr. Ligaya Lakambini Dargantes, head of the city’s Vaccination Operations Center (VOC), however, could not yet disclose the data per barangay.But Dargantes clarified that majority of these barangays have only one active Covid-19 case.Dargantes added that majority of the active cases are also in home isolation while only one is isolated at the Mandaue City Isolaction Center at the old North Bus Terminal in Barangay Subangdaku.Meanwhile, the 11 barangays with no active Covid-19 case include Alang-alang, Bakilid, Casuntingan, Centro, Guizo, Labogon, Looc, Maguikay, Opao, Pagsabungan, and Tingub.She further said the city’s positivity rate is only at 1.91 percent as of March 21.She said the city logged two new Covid-19 cases on March 20, bringing the total active cases to 36.This is below the three percent average positivity rate in February this year, said Dargantes.Despite that, the VOC head emphasized that the public should still follow the minimum health protocols and avoid crowding, particularly when not wearing masks.She also explained that while Covid-19 cases continue to decrease, there should still be isolation facilities in every local government unit (LGU), adding that they are still anticipating more variants.Mandaue City is still under Alert Level 2 status, along with the other LGUs in Cebu, except for Cebu City, which has been deescalated to Alert Level 1.Dargantes said their data for vaccinated seniors has been reconciled with that of the National VOC and that they are just waiting for the Inter-Agency Task Force to deescalate the city to Alert Level 1.
