Only vaxxed persons can play basketball in Consolacion

BASKETBALL aficionados from Consolacion, northern Cebu can now play their favorite pastime after Mayor Joannes Alegado signed an executive order on Nov. 10, 2021 for the resumption of basketball games in his town.

But those playing basketball will have to be 18 years old and above and have to be fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease before they are allowed to play in barangay-owned courts and gymnasiums.

In his executive order (EO), Alegado also required players to present and submit the original and photocopy of their vaccination card together with their Health Declaration Form that needs to be signed by their barangay captain.

The EO also provides that only 20 persons are allowed in the court per game and a 30-minute time limit is permitted per set.

Alegado also highlighted that those players living in a purok or sitio with at least one Covid-19 positive case are not allowed to play.

Alegado said that aside from basketball, they are also studying proposals to allow volleyball games to resume in their town.

He said that should volleyball games resume at their town, a different set of guidelines will be released.

Earlier this month, Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases guidelines allowed the conduct of contact sports in areas under Alert Level 2 provided the contact sports are approved by the local government unit and health protocols are followed
