Opav Asec appointed as undersecretary

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Assistant Secretary Anthony Gerard “Jonji” Gonzales of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (Opav) undersecretary of Opav.

Opav Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino said the President signed Gonzales’ appointment papers on Monday, March 15, 2021.

He congratulated Gonzales on the latter’s new position.

“Since 2016, Opav has fought and overcome so many obstacles and challenges with you as my assistant secretary. Now that you have leveled up as an undersecretary, Opav will be even more capable and ready to take on new hurdles up ahead. Atong ipadayon ang tanan natong nasugdan ug serbisyohan pa’g maayo ang Kabisay-an,” he told Gonzales.

In a press statement, Dino said he is grateful to Duterte for appreciating the team’s efforts in public service, saying the appointment is “a bonus to the real fulfillment of spreading malasakit and changing the realities of the people for the better.”

“To deserve such recognition is indeed a testament that our office, however small in terms of human and fiscal resources, has been working tirelessly and passionately for the people of Visayas, more so during this time of the pandemic,” he said.

Dino also lauded Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea for providing the legal backbone for orders, directives and appointments of Duterte for their office. (NRC / PR, WBS)
