Operation of all courts in tri-cities will be via online during MECQ

THE Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Cebu City has announced that it will close all courts starting Monday, Aug. 2, 2021.

This is in accordance with the implementation of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Cebu City on Sunday, Aug. 1, until Aug. 15.

During this period, courts will continue to operate via video conference but only for urgent matters and cases, including application for bail, releases due to dismissal of cases or acquittal, and violence against women and children, among others, said RTC Cebu City Executive Judge Marlon Jay Moneva.

The RTC in Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City will also only conduct important transactions online during the same period.

These new guidelines for the RTC Cebu City are contained in Memorandum Order 022-2021, which Moneva issued on Saturday, July 31.

Moneva said the courts can be reached through their hotlines and email addresses posted on the official website of the Supreme Court of the Philippines and the official Facebook page of the Office of the RTC executive Judge.

The hotline number for the RTC Office of Clerk of Court (OCC) in Cebu City is (032) 401-0446.

Moneva said the offices of the RTC executive judge, RTC OCC and the Municipal Trial Courts in Cities OCC will remain open and maintain the required skeleton workforce for urgent matters. (WBS)
