THE number of Cebuanos who have received at least one dose of a coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine has increased to 261,226 as of June 24, 2021, data from all public and private sector vaccination centers in Cebu showed.
In the last six days, 50,369 Cebuanos agreed to be inoculated in addition to the 210,857 as of June 18.
Data also showed that 5,389 more vaccinees returned for their second dose from June 19 to 24.
Including the 80,333 as of June 18, a total of 85,722 Cebuanos have now received two doses and are considered fully vaccinated since inoculations started in Cebu on March 4, 2021.
The fully vaccinated residents comprise 7.01 percent of the eligible population in Cebu City, 4.46 percent in Mandaue City, 2.29 percent in Lapu-Lapu City, 1.02 percent in Minglanilla, 0.97 percent in City of Naga, 0.75 percent in Consolacion, and 0.61 percent in Talisay City.
A total of 346,948 doses have been administered as of June 24, around 19 percent higher than the 291,190 doses administered as of June 18. This means that over 9,000 doses per day were administered from June 19 to 24.
The Cebu City Government has inoculated the biggest number of individuals at 99,093, of whom 45,246 have also received their second dose, since early March. A total of 144,339 doses have been administered in Cebu City.
In Cebu Province, 76,790 individuals have received the first dose and 19,997 have also received the second dose, for a total of 96,787 doses.
Mandaue City has administered a total of 74,711 doses to 61,525 individuals, of whom 13,186 have also been inoculated with the second dose.
In Lapu-Lapu City, first dose inoculations reached 23,818 while 7,293 were administered as second dose. A total of 31,111 doses have been administered.
Project Balik Buhay
In the 12 vaccination centers operated by the Project Balik Buhay (PBB), around 36,000 private sector employees have been given their first dose.
About a third, or an estimated 12,000, have also received their second dose as of June 24, 2021, bringing the total number of doses administered in PBB sites to 48,000.
Edmun Liu, PBB chairman, said they have masterlisted around 200,000 individuals from 2,500 private companies in Cebu.
The PBB’s biggest facility is the PBB-IEC Vaccination Mega Center at the IEC Convention Center, which is capable of vaccinating up to 2,000 individuals a day.
The facility is manned by 133 healthcare workers and volunteers.
Other PBB vaccination centers are University of San Carlos Talamban campus, Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, Visayas Community Medical Center, Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, UC Medical Center, ARC Hospital, Mactan Doctors’ Hospital, Toyota Lapu-Lapu, Mendero Medical Center and Toyota Talisay.
SunStar
Among the companies that have joined the PBB initiative is SunStar Publishing Inc.
Forty-seven employees of SunStar Cebu, who belong to priority group A4, and company nurse Aida Saguing (A1) received their first dose at the PBB-IEC megacenter Friday.
Members of the media are classified under A4, which includes workers (private sector, informal sector, self-employed) who need to go out to work, government employees, police and military.
This is the second batch of SunStar employees who have received the vaccine through PBB.
The first batch included those from priority groups A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities). They received their first dose on May 7 and the second on June 4 at the Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue, another PBB vaccination site.
Registration
PBB communications officer Justine Espina said the PBB still accepts applications from companies, including micro-enterprises, as well as people’s organizations in Cebu.
“Anyone who will register will get the vaccine. We ask for patience because we have to follow the prioritization framework,” she said.
To register, Espina said, the company human resource (HR) or organization’s representative must log on to https://projectbalikbuhay.com.ph to register on the system and download the pre-listing documents.
For submission, the company HR or representative has to email the requirements to registration@projectbalikbuhay.com.ph.

The PBB initiative has the support of the Department of Health and Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas.
As of June 23, Central Visayas has received a total of 804,510 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, consisting of 397,360 doses of Sinovac, 162,000 doses of AstraZeneca, 239,850 doses of Pfizer and 5,300 doses of Sputnik V. (JJL, PAC, WBS)
