A TOTAL of 310,839 residents have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in Cebu City as of Monday, Oct. 4, 2021.
The latest numbers constitute 43 percent of the 723,709 individuals who registered for vaccination in the city. The vaccination in the city started last March with medical frontliners as the first recipients.
Cebu City still has to fully vaccinate at least 389,161 to reach the 700,000 in order for the city to achieve herd immunity.
Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, head of the Cebu City Health Department (CHD), said there were 354,000 individuals who already received their first dose and are waiting for their second dose.
If the individuals who have received their first dose get their second, the number of fully vaccinated individuals in the city would reach 664,839.
Ibones announced that Cebu City has an adequate supply of vaccine for the continuation of vaccination this week.
The City Government received 8,000 doses of Pfizer, 2,000 doses of Moderna, 2,900 doses of Sinopharm vaccines last week. These doses will be administered this week.
In recent weeks, Ibones said the number of individuals getting vaccinated has decreased, especially for those scheduled for the first dose. Vaccine hesitancy and brand preference are among the reasons for the slowdown of the city’s vaccination
The CHD chief reminded the people that they can walk in to vaccination sites for them to be vaccinated as long as they are registered with Pabakunata.com.
VVOC’s call
Meanwhile, the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) is calling for the remaining 32 unvaccinated frontline health workers (Priority Code A1) in Central Visayas to get jabbed so the region could declare a 100 percent A1 vaccination.
VVOC spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said the 32 medical frontliners are in the masterlist for A1.
“Please get vaccinated,” Loreche said. “Let us set the tone and the example for our countrymen by having ourselves vaccinated.”
Loreche said that future plans for booster doses are still being deliberated.
There were 131,989 medical frontliners who registered for vaccination. Of the number, 131,957 (99.98 percent) health workers were already vaccinated with the first dose. For the second dose, 131,957 is the eligible priority while 131,494 are already vaccinated with the second dose with only 495 individuals who wait for the second dose.
The VVOC data from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 showed that eight local governments (LGUs) in Metro Cebu had a combined number of 35,835 vaccinated individuals (25 percent) out of their combined weekly target of 141,750 for the first dose.
The LGUs under are the highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu; and component cities of Talisay and Naga City; and municipalities of Minglanilla, Consolacion and Cordova.
For the second dose in the same period, the eight LGUs had vaccinated a combined 17,857 (70 percent) individuals out of their combined weekly target of 25,463. (PAC, JOB)
