Over P5M worth of properties lost in 3 Cebu City fires

AT LEAST three fire incidents took place in Cebu City since the New Year began.

The first two fires erupted on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, in Barangay Calamba and in Barangay Sta. Cruz.

Around P1.2 million worth of properties were damaged from both fires.

The third fire hit a commercial establishment in Don Mariano Cui St., Barangay Capitol Site at dawn on Thursday, Jan. 5.

FO3 Fulbert Navarro of the Cebu City Fire Office said the fire destroyed two commercial spaces, including a laundry shop owned by Janelle Teo, inside the building owned by Francisco Veloso Jr.

The fire was placed under first alarm at 4:21 a.m., under control at 4:33 a.m. and then declared fire out after seven minutes.

Firemen are still conducting an investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire, which caused P4.5 million in damage. (BBT / TPT)
