CLOSE to P5 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated while 73 suspected drug personalities were arrested during a one-day Synchronized Anti-Criminal Law Enforcement Operations (Sacleo) in Cebu Province on Saturday, April 23, 2022.This was the second Sacleo conducted by the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), aimed to minimize all types of criminality that would serve as risk factors for the incoming May 9, 2022 elections.During their one-day operations, the CPPO personnel were able to seize a total of 718.25 grams of shabu worth P4,884,100 and arrested 70 drugs pushers and three drug users.Aside from illegal drug personalities, the CPPO personnel also arrested around 130 people during their anti-illegal gambling operations.On the campaign against loose firearms, the provincial police confiscated 140 firearms and arrested four personalities for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.Police also arrested seven most wanted persons and 58 other most wanted persons out of the 68 warrants of arrest they have served.They also arrested three men for violation of illegal logging and apprehended 181 violators of Covid-19 protocols and 13 violators for other local ordinances during the one-day Sacleo.Lt. Col. Engelbert Soriano, CPPO director, said the April 23 Sacleo so far is the biggest for this month. He commended the operating teams.Drug den raidedMeanwhile, five suspected drug pushers were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA 7) during a drug bust inside a drug den in Barangay San Roque, Cebu City on Sunday afternoon, April 24.Leia Albiar, PDEA 7 spokesperson, identified the suspects as Aira Miramontes, 32, who owns the drug den; and drug den visitors Rene Baraca, 42; Mark Brahel Bantugan, 18 ; Carlo Navidad, 26; and Arbel Salvador, 24.Around 18 packs of suspected shabu worth P102,000 were recovered from Miramontes.Albiar said it took them three days to monitor Miramontes’ operations and they had to seek the help of concerned citizens to build up their case.Albiar added that Miramontes can dispose illegal drugs of at least 30 grams per week.Miramontes, however, has denied that the drugs come from her.
