PH dominates billiards at SEA Games

THE Philippines continued to show dominance in billiards in the 31st Southeast Asian Games after winning gold medals in both the Men’s and Women’s 10-Ball Pool Singles on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Vietnam.The Philippines got its fourth gold medal in pool.Carlo Biado beat compatriot Johann Chua in the Men’s 10-Ball pool singles in the gold medal match. It was a rematch of the Men’s 9-Ball pool singles finals, wherein Chua defeated Biado.Meanwhile, Rubelin Amit won her second goal after defeating fellow Filipina Chezka Centeno in the Women’s 10-Ball singles finals.Amit is now a winner of back-to-back gold medals in the SEA Games. She also won her second gold this year after winning the Women’s 9-Ball singles.On the other hand, Treat Huey and Ruben Gonzales won the gold in the Tennis Men’s Doubles after defeating the duo of Jeson Patrombon and Francis Casey Alcantara.Shugen Nakano also won the gold medal in the -66 KG in judo after beating Hoang Phuc Truong in the finals.UpdatesOn the other hand, Cebuana Olympic weightlifter Elreen Ando won the silver medal in the Women’s -64 KG in weightlifting.The duo WGM Janelle Frayna and WFM Shania Mendoza also won a silver in the Women’s team blitz, while IM Emmanuel Garcia and IM Daniel Quizon won the bronze in the Men’s team blitz.The Philippines is still fifth with 205 medals from 46 golds, 64 silvers and 95 bronzes.Host Vietnam still has a wide lead at first place with 361 medals.
