Police confiscates over P110M shabu in Central Visayas

MORE than P100 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated during the one-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (Sacleo) conducted by the police across Central Visayas over the weekend.Data from the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) showed that Sacleo was conducted by 165 different police stations from the provinces of Cebu, Negros Oriental, Bohol and Siquijor.At least 199 drug personalities were arrested and a total of P111.4 million worth of shabu was seized.The Sacleo started at 12:01 a.m. on July 9, Saturday and ended at 12:01 a.m. on July 10, Sunday.The one-day Sacleo also led to the arrest of 266 persons for illegal gambling, and the confiscation of 204 gambling paraphernalia and P20,812 cash believed to be bet money.Majority of the drugs were netted in Cebu on Saturday, July 9, including the 15 kilos of shabu valued at P102 million from former overseas Filipino worker Grace Juntilla, 31, in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, and the P860,000 worth of shabu from five drug suspects in separate drug raids in Talisay City and Cebu City, according to Lt. Col. Mary Crystal Peralta, spokesperson for Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, director of the PRO 7.The five suspects were identified as Maria Donjie Baya, 31, and Cesar Taac-Taac, 31, of Barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City, and Leo Amanci, Ariel Contado, and Janine May Torres, both of legal age, from Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City.
