Police launch manhunt against gunman in Hipodromo shooting last Sunday night

A MAN was shot dead in Sitio San Roque Rail Site II, Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Argie Jervacio Isidto.

Major Eraño Regidor, chief of the Mabolo Police Station, said they already know who killed him, but they are withholding the gunman’s name while they conduct a manhunt operation.

Regidor said the victim and the suspect must have known each other.

When the gunman arrived, Isidto approached him and led him to a small alley where they talked.

The surveillance camera in the area was able to get a clear footage of the suspect’s face that will strengthen the case against him.

According to the witness, Isidto was standing in the narrow alley when the gunman suddenly shot him.

Isidto was able to stumble a few steps before he succumbed to the gunshot wound in his neck, while the suspect quickly fled.

Based on the shell recovered from the scene, the murder weapon was a .45 pistol.

Regidor said Isidto did not have a police record, but there had been several complaints against him in the barangay where he also lived.

The police chief said they received reports that Isidto was a small-time drug pusher in the area.

Aside from his alleged involvement in illegal drugs, he said Isidto was also a known troublemaker and a bully.

“The victim doesn’t have a record with the station but he had a record in the barangay. He wasn’t on our target list, which is why he was never the subject of our operation. But based on the information we received from the barangay, Isidto was involved in illegal drugs,” Regidor said in Cebuano. (AYB, PJB)
