PSA opens 3rd PhilSys ID site in Mandaue City

THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has opened its third site in Mandaue City for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) ID or national ID registration.

PSA supervisors and Pacific Mall Mandaue held the ribbon-cutting ceremony and inauguration of the new site, on the second floor of the mall, on Friday, July 16, 2021.

PSA registration officer Jeson Abejuela told SunStar Cebu that the other PhilSys ID registration sites in Mandaue City are in the Mandaue City Public Market and JCentre Mall.

Abejuela said they took the offer of Pacific Mall management to open a PhilSys ID site at the mall since they saw the need to open more sites due to the demand of the residents in Mandaue City to avail of the service, particularly at their mother branch at the Mandaue City Public Market.

Opening more branches would decongest the other branches in Mandaue City.

The JCentre Mall and Mandaue City Public Market PhilSys sites can each accommodate more than 600 individuals per day.

The new site will accommodate all the employees and tenants of Pacific Mall on its first week of operation before it will cater to the public, said Abejuela based on their agreement with the mall.

He said on the first day of operation they target to register 180 individuals.

But he said they may exceed this target if the registration process goes on for the full 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule.

The site will be open Monday to Saturday.

In terms of appointment, Abejuela said as of July 16, they do not have available slots for Mandaue City. With this, they accept walk-in registrants in all their branches in Mandaue.

As of July 16, the PSA has registered 30,000 to 40,000 residents in Mandaue.

“If you want to avail of the national ID, you will have to follow the minimum protocol and present the necessary documents,” Abejuela reminded registrants. (KFD)
