Real estate, urban poor leaders endorse Leni-Kiko

REAL estate professionals and urban poor leaders in Metro Cebu have established a group to support the candidacy of presidential candidate Leni Robredo and vice presidential candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan this coming May elections.Vice President Robredo is slated to grace the political rally of Cebu gubernatorial candidate Joseph “Ace” Durano and his running mate Vice Gov. Hilario “Junjun” Davide III in Talisay City on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.The group called REV UP, an acronym for Real Estate Volunteers and Urban Poor, which is headed by Nathaniel Chua, Emily Cabillada and Marilou Cañizares, agreed to support the Leni-Kiko tandem after a consultation with more than 100 urban poor leaders. The group chose the tandem because of Robredo’s track record as head of the Housing and Urban Poor Development Coordinating Council for six months and her plan to allocate around P50 billion for socialized housing if she is elected as president. The group conducted its second round of consultation last April 20 at the University of San Jose-Recoletos.The group has hoped that Robredo would make true of her promise on the socialized housing program once she becomes president.Chua said Robredo’s proposed housing program for the poorest of the poor is an answer to the needs of the urban poor community to have a permanent shelter which they can call as their own.“The urban poor group realized that their lives and dreams of owning a land will only be fulfilled if they choose the right leaders, if they will exercise their right properly by scrutinizing the plans and platforms of the candidates,” Chua added.Cabillada, for her part, said the track record of Robredo speaks of a leader who can deliver her campaign promises.
