Returning Consolacion mayor vows more jobs, business opportunities

THE returning mayor of Consolacion town, northern Cebu has vowed to boost jobs, revenues and business opportunities for her constituents.This was the promise of Teresa “Nene” Alegado during her swearing-in ceremony at the town’s gymnasium on Saturday, June 25, 2022.In her inaugural speech, Alegado showcased her blueprint for the development of Consolacion.Some of the projects the mother of outgoing Mayor Joannes “Joyjoy” Alegado presented during her speech included the P10 billion New Cebu International Container Port and the 235.80-hectare reclamation project La Consolacion Seafront Development.Mayor-elect Alegado also pledged to improve the town’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (a document designed to guide future actions of the local government unit) to attract more investors and business locators to invest in Consolacion. More investments in the town, she said, would mean more employment opportunities for her constituents.“These developments will help transform Consolacion from a sleeping town into a vibrant, smart city-like community,” said Alegado.She also aims to strengthen social and medical services, food production and livelihood, environmental protection and people safety, including the relocation of the town’s persons deprived of liberty into a more humane and eco-friendly facility.Alegado is also eyeing to improve Consolacion’s quality of education by converting Consolacion Community College into Cebu Technological University (CTU) Consolacion via consortium with the CTU management.This would be Alegado’s fourth term as the town’s mayor and her seventh term being a public servant as she also served as a vice mayor and municipal councilor.The other officials who also took their oath of office were Vice Mayor-elect Aurelio Damole and incoming councilors Alfie Ouano, Marilou Pepito Casul, Ingking Yu Villo, Leo Napuli, Fred Tibon Herrera, Bienvenido Ermac, Brando Cuizon and Salome Palang. They were accompanied by their families and friends.Judge Jocelyn Uy-Po of the Consolacion-Cordova 8th Municipal Trial Court presided over the oathtaking.The officials will begin their fresh terms at noon of Thursday, June 30, 2022.
