Sanman Promotions inks promising Paras

SANMAN Promotions added another prospect to its growing roster of elite fighters after signing one-time world title challenger Vince Paras to a promotional deal.

“I am happy with my new management and promoter. I know they will help me realize my world championship dream,” Paras said in a statement.

Despite being just 23 years old, Paras has tons of experience. He is already a six-year veteran, a former world title challenger and a former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific Youth light flyweight champion.

At just 19 years old, Paras challenged for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight belt, but lost to Hiroto Kyoguchi by unanimous decision in Japan in 2018.

“His losses do not mean anything. He was just 19 years old and fought elite champions. He learned from those fights and still has a bright future. He comes to knock people out and fans will definitely love him. He will still train with veteran trainer Bennie De la Peña. He will be a world champion when he reaches his prime,” said Sanman Promotions chief executive officer JC Manangquil.

Following his loss to Kyoguchi, Paras dropped another unanimous decision defeat, this time against veteran Jonathan Taconing in a World Boxing Council (WBC) International light flyweight championship, also in 2018.

Paras bounced back with back-to-back wins over Reymark Taday and Vincent Bautista in 2019.

Paras has a record of 15 wins and two losses with 13 wins by way of knockout.

Paras joins the likes of interim WBC bantamweight Reymart Gaballo, Mike Plania, Jayson Mama, Jade Bornea, Froilan Saludar, Jeo Santisima, Melvin Jerusalem, KJ Cataraja, Mark Bernaldez and Romero Duno in Sanman Promotions’ stacked roster.
